Parents in the Workplace
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 80.4 percent of families had at least one employed family member in 2016. In many workplaces a majority of employees are also parents. Employers that address substance abuse in the workplace through education also inform and empower parent workers to attend to substance misuse in their families and communities. Good communication is essential for parents to build the skills needed for young people to avoid drug and alcohol use.
